Congratulations to a Bristol institution
In a period when it can often feel like too many model shops are closing, it’s good to learn that one, Model Mania in Bristol, is this month proudly celebrating its 25th successful year of trading. Bryan and Judith Tozer set the shop up in 1985, after visiting swapmeets and friends in the city. After much deliberation, Bryan decided to ‘chuck the day job’ and bite the bullet and several months later purchased the property at St. George, Bristol, where they are still today. There was much work that needed to be done before the shop could open and, after a month of hard work, with the help of Bryan’s parents, a good friend Pete (who did much of the building work) Bryan and Judith had the grand opening on Judith’s birthday, 2 November. The business gradually built up over the next few years until in 1990 Judith joined Bryan full time, expanding the mail order business.
The roots of the shop remain though, and now the pair attend more model railway exhibitions and swapmeets than ever, offering as wide a selection of products as possible. The staff at Model Collector wish the store well, and toast to the next 25 years of trading.
