Lone Star Day 2012

Classic British toys on display at Whitewebbs Museum of Transport, Enfield

If you have a passion for classic British toys and are within striking distance of the London borough of Enfield, make a date in your diary for Sunday, September 30. For on this day, between 10am and 4pm, the Whitewebbs Museum of Transport in Whitewebbs Road, Enfield will be hosting its annual Lone Star day.

Visitors will be able to view lots of different types of toys manufactured by Lone Star, the toy division of the Diecasting Machine Tools Ltd (DCMT), which for many years was based locally to the museum at Palmers Green and Welham Green.

Leading Lone Star enthusiasts will be showing off their prized collections, and many of the company’s ex-employees will be in attendance to answer questions about the huge range of toys produced by this manufacturer.

The entrance fee of £4 (accompanied children under the age of 12 will be admitted free of charge) will also include admission to the museum’s wonderful collection of historic vehicles, on-site shops (located in the former Enfield Chase Station, now re-erected on site) and working OO gauge railway. The organisers also advise that refreshments will be available to purchase throughout the day.
