Following on from the very encouraging news last month that ModelZone has in fact opened eleven new stores in 2010, we are now delighted to report that the Loughborough Model Centre has now opened a second retail outlet in Derby.
The new shop, occupying the former premises of Train-lines of Derby, at 107 Nottingham Road, Derby, DE1 3QR, opened its doors to the public on December 1, 2010.
Chris Tipping, husband of owner Nicola, has been appointed manager. The couple have built the business up together, starting by touring the swapmeets, and then progressing on to running the successful e-commerce website www.ttcdiecat.com from their home, before adding the two shops to their repertoire – and they can now lay claim to being responsible for one of the largest bus retail operations in the UK . Chris enthuses : 'I am really looking forward to the challenge of the new shop. We will be stocking literally hundreds, if not thousands, of model buses, both new and pre-owned, and of course plenty of trucks, railways, and other modelling products. We hope that the swift transaction from Train-lines to Loughborough Model Centre will ensure Derby has a quality model centre for the long term.'
