A real must for transport enthusiasts everywhere is the annual Great Dorset Steam Fair (a.k.a. The National Heritage Show), this year planned for Wednesday, August 28 through to Sunday, September 1.

Now in its 45th year, this incredible event, spread over 600 acres of showground at

Tarrant Hinton,
Blandford Forum,
Dorset DT11 8HX

... attracts over 200,000 visitors each year from all around the world!

And don’t let the name of the show fool you, vintage, veteran and classic cars, lorries, military vehicles, tractors, stationary engines, motorcycles and bikes and even heavy horses will all find a place in the cavalcade. There will also be numerous country crafts demonstrated, memorabilia collections of all kinds, live entertainment and one of the country’s biggest travelling funfairs on site.

What’s more, if you head along to the Oxford Diecast marquee, there’ll be a lucky dip give-away, with a free model for all!

Book your tickets in advance and you’ll receive a substantial discount. Otherwise day tickets are available on arrival at £18 (this price is for adults, although there are numerous concessions). Tickets on the final day, i.e. the Sunday, will be charged at £12 due to the fact that the show finishes that day at 3pm, although all the attractions can still be enjoyed.

There’s so much to see however, that every year many decide to take advantage of this fun festival and use the onsite campsite facilities. There will be over 170 acres allocated for public camping this year, that will accommodate a staggering 5,000 individual units (caravans, tents etc.) This will include disabled camping facilities (for badge holders only).
