Universal Hobbies has announced a 1:16 die-cast model of the 1955 Ferguson TEA SUE. Not familiar with this particular tractor? Well, this was the vehicle that was modified for use on the 1955-1959 Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition. Under Sir Edmund Hilary, the cloth-bound, ultra-hardy vehicle was driven across the South Pole. This was also the first overland journey to the Pole since Captain Scott! And if our winters continue in the way of this one, we might all be driving one of these soon...
The tractor is expected in spring 2011, but pre-orders are now being taken at retailers nationwide. The model is going to retail at £64.99, and carries a catalogue number of UH2921.
