Want to hear something amazing? Well, two iconic screen vehicles, the Ghostbusters' Ecto-1 Ambulance and the A-Team's van, have never been produced in die-cast in 1:18 scale.
News has reached us that Mattel is planning to bring out large scale versions of both in the first half of 2011. The Ghostbusters craft is of course based on the 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor, adapted to ambulance spec, from the 1984 film. This vehicle has been produced by other manufacturers over the years (most notably by Ertl in 1:21 scale), and as a plastic toy for use with figures, but never as a collector's piece.
The A-Team vehicle has also been modelled on many occasions, often as a 1:43 scale or smaller piece, and as a remote controlled vehicle and kit. The real life renegade machine was actually a GMC Vandura, in black and grey with red side swipe and spoiler, and six were employed in the filming of the series.
Both the models' exact release dates are unknown as this time, but orders are being taken at various online outlets. The retail price for each one is over £110, although these prices could rise slightly as a result of the VAT increase for UK buyers.
Either way, we can't wait!
