1:76 Scania R Series Tanker, liveried for the Malcolm Group (SHL02TK) - RRP £21.95. An Eddie Stobart Highline Tanker version is also planned (SHL03TK) and is due in the first half of 2014.
While this is very much a show and tell type feature, not all of the work in progress we’re aware of has yet reached the prototype stage, so where this is the case we’ve listed details below. If you want to be kept completely in the picture therefore, read on…
Really exciting news for those keen to see more vintage vehicles modelled is the announcement of an Austin Seven RN saloon (the RN being the less frequently seen long wheelbase steel saloon version) in the Oxford Automobile series and an RN (high top) version of the van in the Oxford Commercials series. First releases on the new tooling are expected to be seen in the spring/summer of next year, with the first issue on the saloon (ASS001 in Fawn finish) carrying an RRP of £14.95 and the van (ASV001 in Primrose) an RRP of £13.95.
As we’ve come to expect from Oxford, there’s going to be lots of new additions in 1:76, many of which are illustrated here. Not yet available to illustrate in prototype form are the new toolings for the 1:76 Oxford Automobile series Jaguar D Type (the first version will be based on a car raced at Le Mans in 1956 - 76DYPT001 – RRP £4.75) and the Mini Coupe (debuting in Pepper White and Chilli Red - 76MC001 – RRP £4.45). Work is also well underway for the 1:76 Commer Commando bus, whose first outing will be in fact be for the RAF in the Military Collection (76COM001) – RRP £14.95. The Commando however, also saw service for a number of civilian bus operators and was also widely used by airlines such as BEA, BOAC, etc. It even joined the circus! So there are masses of potential routes down which OD can take this new tooling. Plus there’ll be a new three piece Mini set in the 1:76 Oxford Gift series (76SET20), RRP £11.95.
In the 1:72 History of Flight series, new tooling will be the Avro Anson Mk 1, which will launch in 500 Sqn scheme as it saw service at RAF Dettling in 1940 (72AA001), RRP £32.95. And amongst various new schemes on existing castings, a real favourite of ours, the De Havilland Dragon Rapide, will be offered in Railway Air Services (72DR006) and Swissair (SP073) finishes – also priced at £32.95 each.
For anyone who missed our previous pre-production peek at the new series of 1:87 US classic cars, here’s another taste of what to expect. All models featured will be offered in a number of colour finishes in 2014.
There’ll be plenty of new colours/ liveries in this diminutive but detailed little series, including two New Ford Transits railway modellers and diorama enthusiasts in particular will appreciate: a Network Rail version (NFT005) and a plain white LWB high version (NFT006). Bus collectors and fleet operators will also be interested to learn that a 1:148 five piece bus set (NSET02) is also planned for 2014.
