I collect Royal Mail, Telephone/BT vans and British Rail/ways in 1:50th and 1:43rd WHEN AVAILABLE. I can understand to a certain extent why railway models are in 1:76th scale, but Corgi have produced British Railways road models in 1:50th scale. That was two changes ago and I keep hoping that Hornby, the new owners of Corgi will produce some of the trackside product in the 1:50th scale. If they did, then a lot of it would find it's way into my collection. As it is, there is no way ANY 1:76 scale is coming here.

It is the same with the Royal Mail Models. Because Corgi/Hornby are not making Post Office Telephone vans with the chassis cab like Greengrass' truck, I have decided to make my own. A curtainsider Royal Mail 40' trailer has been constructed using a blue trailer painted red and it looks good. I made a suggestion to Corgi that they purchase books from the Post Office Vehicle Owners Club and it seems that they may have taken this on board. There are dozens of different models to choose from. But what do they do? They re-issue models that they have already done. WHY? Come on Corgi, GET A GRIP.

The Routemaster bus model in all it's variations has been around for fifty years, (well, it seems like it) I like this model, but here again, in bus magazines there are pictures of some truly wonderful restorations of 1920's to 1940's buses. These wonderful old ladies are a delight to my eye and i'm sure many other collectors would purchase such models if they became avaiable. It may be said that many collectors were not around when these buses were. Well neither was I, but I know quality when I see it and these buses are certainly in that category.

I also collect British Railways, they have to be Blood and Custard,or Green, but all mine are 1/76. I also have a collection of general 1/76 vehicles, as well as 1/72, usually the Cararama and Automaxx ones, and I have a collection of 1/87, diecast and plastic, models, and Lesney and Husky, and a few Budgie. I got the Lesney and Husky, as I think some are more or less 1/76 - 1/72 scales, and some models that the modern manufacureres dont make, yet.

There are a few models that are 1/43 - 1/50, that I would like to see in 1/76, such as the Thames Trader Artic dropside, by Spot-on, or the Bedford and Commer artics by Dinky?and the Land Rover series II or the Morris Commercial, by Corgi, or the Thames 400E by Oxford.

I suppose the manufacturers can't please everyone. But I would like to know who decides what thay make. And there are ways and means to get the models one would like,
